Accomplishments & Objectives
Accomplishments for Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 2005
- Organized the first South Central High Speed Rail Corridor Conference at DFW International Airport with key speakers from railroads, the state and transportation agencies - a sold out event.
- Developed an informational and educational website for the public and private sectors to obtain information on passenger and freight rail issues in Texas.
- Engaged the public and private sectors in developing our Texas rail system through outreach programs including participation at the Transportation Summit in San Antonio, Texas in September 2005.
Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2006
- Expand the outreach of Texas Rail Advocates to a broader area of the public and private sector and raise awareness of passenger and freight rail issues as they affect the quality of life and economic development in the state.
- Hold the 2nd Annual South Central High Speed Rail Corridor Conference at DFW Airport in Dallas on January 28, 2006.
- Promote the designated USDOT South Central High Speed Rail Corridor as an environmentally friendly and economically viable alternative to adding more highways in Texas.
